I just want to verify that all I need to EPN a G650 off a MCC is a TN573 and a TN571. The two building will have single mode fiber. Does anyone know the part that connects the fiber? DO I need any other boards in the G650 or MCC. I only going to have 3 analog boards in the G650, no phones. Thanks for the help

You'll need an TN2312BP IPSI card for the G650 plus a Expansion Interface (we use ATM). There are two transceivers for multi mode, long range and short range. You will also need a TN573B for a Center Stage Switch. I've never used single mode connectivity so I'm not sure if that's another type EI board.

No ipsi is needed for a fiber connected PN. You can use a SM or MM tranceiver behind the TN573 and TN570. Make sure you get the one for SM.

thanks I have the TN570 not a TN571(typo. I just wanted make sure I'm not missing anything. Thanks again

This is the fiber transceiver that you will need for single mode.

R10 and up:
R300 Transceiver - Single Mode Fiber - 62.5 micron - 22 Miles

It may be to "hot" to use for a short distance. You may have to use some attenuators to reduce the strength of the laser.

I know this is an old thread but I just joined and was looking through old posts.

With a single mode fiber transceiver you always have to use attenuators. The old documentation said to put them on the receive fiber at both ends and you want the attenuator that will get you down to -17dB which is what the switch wants. There is no test for this, when the EPN comes up and is stable you have the correct attenuation.

The 9823A and B transceivers have this built in.
