We have a Partner ACS where the 2 programming extensions desk sets continuously cycle on & off. Meanwhile on all other extensions the lamps are lit for 10 & 11 regardless of whether 10 & 11 are connected to the system. Rebooting the system did not clear this & I could not find anything in any of the Lucent/Avaya manuals that described this situation. It should be noted that in addition to being the programming extensions, 10 & 11 are also the power failure extensions on this system. Also the desk sets when plugged into 10 & 11 are completely non functional (except for this cycling on & off). I have swapped phones around & it is not desk set related, just whatever phone gets plugged into those ports will display this type of behaviour....

So can anyone tell me what this condition means & how to clear it? Is my central unit or at least the ports 10 & 11 cooked? I know because of programming & power failure these are special ports so I thinking something other than cooked, but I don't know.

I hope you do!

Thanks!!!!

If you have disconnected the connecting cords for 10 and 11 AT THE CONTROL UNIT, and the 10 and 11 buttons on the other extensions are still lit, then those ports are fried. You could try powering off, removing the batteries to clear the programming memory and try again. If still no go, you're going to have to replace the ACS

(Oh, and if you clear the memory, and it doesn't come back up, you have no way to restore the programming until you get a new ACS)

I would get an Avaya dealer out there, who can bring a replacement with them in case they can't get it working again.

Thanks TTT !

I think you are correct. Since we are a summer camp w/ minimal phone usage in the off season I'll hold off on blowing the programming away by removing the batteries until I get another ACS here. All the other extensions work fine, but since I can't program it anymore with 10/11 OoS & have lost my power failure functionality I'll need to replace it.....

Thanks again!

Did you ever have Remote Programming working? And you can do PFT by wiring up a couple of jacks to the dial tone ahead of the system, or during a PF unplug a CO and a station, use a cord coupler to join them together and go plug in the S/L phone.

Thanks again TTT !

Unfortunately no remote programming was in place......on the other hand the only "feature" I was using was intercom, so I just went around & reprogrammed each station so the buttons had the correct station intercoms programmed on them. So we'll limp thru for now.....
