I have a client who currently has 48 station and about 20 lines using a NEC Electra. They need to grow to several more stations and line in the future probably about 70 stations in the next few years.

I want to put them into a Partner enviroment. What will Partner max out on and should I be looking at another system other than Partner?

48 stations is the magic number for a Partner - so look to Magix or IP Office if you want to stay with Avaya.

What is the carrier module configuration for the 48 stations and what is the max number of lines assuming that a VM module is being used.

What phones can be used on a Magix or IP. Can the Partner sets be used?

Partner sets can be used on Magix only. Magix is around 80 lines 200extensions with up to 3 t1's.

Depends on what IPO you get. But will allow max out around 300 users at one site I think.

How many lines are you going to use on the Partner? Is there a T1? All that is dependant on how many extensions you can have.

If you expect growth to 70 stations, the Partner is NOT the product for this application. Partner configured for max stations and voicemail would be:
Slot 1 - 012 module
Slot 2 - 012 module
slot 3 - 5X9 processor
slot 4 - 012 module
slot 5 - Partner messaging

So - in this config you get 45 stations, but only 5 CO lines.

Magix will fit the size, but has been discontinued. IP Office maxes at 360 stations (there are urban legends that say it will go more using IP phones, we just haven't tried).
So, from size perspective, IP Office would be fine. Product requires seperate authorization to sell.
Good luck

What does IP stand for and do you know what the advantages are in replacing Merlin?

Do you think they will come out with a smaller version to replace Partner?

IP Stands for Internet Protocol. The IP Office is a different animal as compared to both Magix and Partner. Advantages in many areas, disadvantages in others - just like comparing ANY two phone systems.

IP Office comes in many sizes - from very small (IP Small Office) to larger than Magix (IP 412). For detailed information, go to Avaya's web site and get the product description. It tells all.
