When I turn on my system, the Partner VS module light goes red for half a second, then goes solid green for about 2-3 seconds, and then the led turns off. I do however continue to hear the hard drive making some noise, spinning, reading, or whatever it may be doing. The ACS stays solid green, and I have ext 10 access to programming menus.

Can anyone give me any troubleshooting suggestions?

I've read njwebtech's post about Installing a 308EC light only lights for 3 sec, but I still would like some suggestions.

Equipment:
-5 slot carrier Avanced/Endeavor Communications System
-Partner ACS R5.0
-Partner VS R5.0

Carrier Configuration:
Slot 1: Empty
Slot 2: VS 5.0
Slot 3: ACS 5.0
Slot 4: Empty
Slot 5: Empty

Note: I left the frist slot empty because The Partner VS 5.0 Manual says "Do not install the voice messaging system in the first slot of the Partner Plus system control unit or the Partner II system primary carrier". This scared me a little, so I decided to just keep the VS module away from slot 1. (May this is the problem?)

Note: I have switched the VS Module into slots 2, 4, and 5. All result in the same outcome.

Note: I have done a #989clear, and the system does clear, the VS module does reboot with the same red, green, off procedure.

Thanks so much for your time.

Just so you know , you are not working with a Partner Plus or Partner II, it ok to put the VS in the first slot on a ACS, as a rule you would put it in the last slot that is not being use but your post shows all you are using is the ACS R5 so go ahead and put it in the first slot and you will be fine.

A trusted source for years.

Hi Randini,
Telprog is right. Really, the only reason the vm can't go in the left-most slot with the earlier processors is the would eliminate ext 10-15. Therefore, no way to program the system and no reception position. Also, the card in slot 1 powered some of the processors that didn't have their own power supply. With the ACS series, ext 10-17 exist on the processor so there is no conflict.

Going to ask a stupid question here- are we to assume the Mail VS does not work?? Even in slot 2 (which should make no difference by the way as far as this working) did you program the proper hunt group #7 ports (#505)? Put it in slot #1, assign extensions 22 and 23 to #505 group 7. If it is working you should then be able to access it by dialing (intercom)(7)(7)(7) and hear "Welcome to Partner Mail VS" etc.

I suspect though that you have a bad Mail VS.

Hi Hal,
He has slot one vacant, the processor won't talk to any past an empty slot. The voicemail is just indicating not ready since it can't talk to the processor. I'll bet that once the vm is installed into slot one, and the ports programmed into hunt group 7, it'll come alive. It should indicate a green even with the ports not programmed. Not so with messaging, which also needs the ports programmed on the system.
