Good morning all. I have a situation that I need some help with. I have partner voicemail installed behind a R5 system. I have someone that has left our business and now I have a new user at this extension (21) and she needs to have her password reset. I haven't a clue what mailbox is assigned to that extension and need to reset it. Is their an easy way to find what mailbox is assigned to what extension? I posted something similar quite a while back and the best I could come up with is to use the 310 command and scroll through all of them. Is their something else that I can do to find them so I can do this remotely?

Thanks for your time and help this morning.

the mailbax and extension numbers coincide partner dosnt allow you to assign mailboxs to diffent numbred extesnions .

so it would be mailbox 21

(unless Im missing something here )

Thanks skip. I'll give it a try.

It seems to be a different number skip. I dialed into her extension and let vm pick it up. Then I *7 and looged in as the admin. I then hit option number 7 to reinitialize mailbox 21 and it tells me it is an invalid number. This is R3 voicemail pc card. Any thoughts?? (Other than I don't know what I am doing... LOL)

Thanks

well you could go to the FAQ section look for the link go to avaya and download the manual

I havent worked much with the VM cards so thats what I would do . ( in fact I probably will later stuff like this makes me curios )

(two of us who dont know what we are doing ;_) )

maybee somebody who actully knows what thier doing will come along

The PC cards have X number of mailboxes, assigned to various extensions. For instance, if it is configured for 12 mailboxes, by default mailbox 1 is assigned to ext. 10, mailbox 2 is assigned to ext. 11, and so on. When you initialize a mailbox password, it wants the MAILBOX number, not the extension number.

Now, it is also possible to change the extension assigned to the mailbox. So the first thing you want to do, after logging in as system administrator, is option 1 to assign an extension to a mailbox.

Press 1 for mailbox 1, it tells you the current assignment, and asks for a new assignment. Write it down, press *# to backup without changing the assignement, then enter mailbox 2. Continue until you get to the end of the mailbox assignments. Now you know which mailbox number is assigned to extension 21, as well as all the other assignments, which you will of course keep with the system documentation.

Now you can finally initialize the mailbox's password.

You guys are great. I just called a friend of mine for his thoughts and he told me the same Tommy and finally worked through it. I will write this little step down LOL. Thank you both for your time helping with this.
