I have a Partner II with a Voice Mail VS R4.1 in slot four of the expansion module. The customer said that they were getting busy signals when they accessed Voice Mail using a programed voice mail button (left intercom 777). I found that it was happening every other time. I checked procedure #505, hunt group extensions, group 7, voice mail, extensions 54, 55, 56 and 57 were assigned. I removed them and reinstalled them, this did not help. I did a system reset #728, this did not help, finally I powered down the system and powered it back up. This cleared the trouble. I thought I would take it a little further and dial the four extensions assigned in #505 hunt group extensions, 54, 55, 56 and 57. On all four I got the message that says 'you are being transferred to the operator'. How is this possible. I thought I would get the voice mail module, saying welcome to Partner Voice Mail.

On the Partner II, mode codes are only sent when you dial VM through Intercom 777, not when dialing the extension number directly. Thus the "transfering to Operator".

You are correct that for a 4 port VS mail, in the last slot of a PII, 54-57 are the VM ports.

Sometimes power cycling is the magic bullet.

If you find yourself needing to power-cycle the system again, it may indicate that the voicemail's hard drive is on the way out.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
