Will or has Partner plans to release a newer version than R7? I am looking for something that would allow the user to Centrex direct from their MB.

A while back, there was mention of an R8, but I've seen nothing as of late.

If an R8 is in the works, it would behoove Avaya to go slow and make sure all the bugs are out before putting it out for sale.

Nobody wants to see a repeat of the R7 fiasco.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

I work on a lot of the older versions. What problems went wrong with R7?

Depending on what exactly you want to accomplish, you MAY be able to achieve with R7. Send mailbox zero destination to an auto attend that provides centrex transfer... or something similar.

The only problem will be a large number of MB users. I wanted a cleaner way of transferring the callers from each MB to an external cell number with no delays or further options to choose from.

I can do this with Nortel VM. I was hoping that Avaya would address this on a newer release.

The first release of the R7 processor, "E", had the tendency to lose programming during power failures even with fully charged keep alive batteries installed.

Avaya issued a patch to fix the problem. While it resolved that problem, it created new ones. More patches soon followed.

The latest release, "O", appears to be bug free.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

So install a Nortel and be happy. Nothing worse than trying to put the square peg into the round hole...

GA [ponder]

Is it known what the differences will be between the R7 and R8 [ponder]

GA = General Availability, or release date in Avaya-speak. Nice to know it's not going to be discontinued, huh? That's all I can say for now, though - I'm just a vendor and can get into trouble if I say more.

I have done a search on the web for Partner ACS R8 and have found nothing.

I hope that the R8 doesn't fall on its face when it leaves the "starting gate".

Thank you for the update crumthwacket! [smile]

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Will the change to R8 include any changes to the VM platform or just the PROC end of it?

The Avaya Partner Messaging R6 & R7 voicemails were released roughly the same time as the R6 & R7 processors were. I don't know if there will be an R8 voicemail, so stay tuned!

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
