Processor Module R4.0
Module 206 R4.1
Module 206E R3.1

Lots of things have been happening.

- Dropped Calls
- Rings, Pickup No one There
- Dialtone but can't call out

I inherited this problem.

Can I get new R4 modules (I am guessing not)?
What Rev Modules will work together? I noticed that the system is setup with R3.1 module and R4.0 mod.
Which one should I replace, processor or the others?
I think the new system is up to R7. Can these modules coexist with R7?
Is refurb my only option, besides getting a whole new system?

you say processor R4, are we talking Partner II, Partner Plus or Partner ACS? The Partner ACS is the only one that has extensions and lines the other two are just processors.
If you have a Partner Plus or Partner II then replace the Processor with the new R7 and if you are not short a few extra bucks then replace the carrier as well, it will probably work with the old carrier but I wouldn't take the chance.

Can you calrify for me?

When you say the ACS is the only one that has extensions and lines are you saying that the ACS processor module also has extensions and lines on it?

Is there any other way for me to identify it as a II, Plus or ACS?

Press Feature 59 at a display phone. If it is an ACS, it will show the release on the display.

If that doesn't do anything, grab an outside line. Press Feature, and dial #1. You will hear a series of Touch-Tone "1's" - and you will probably reach a recording that says your call can not be completed. BUT, listen carefully to the number of tones, and the pattern of tones and pauses, report that back, and we can tell you what you have.

TTT is right with his advise, but counting the tomes is a bit tedious so if on the processor it has a multi connector female plug then it is a Partner II if it doesn't have that then it is a Partner Plus except if you have lines and extensions plugged into the processor the it is a Partner ACS (Advanced Communication System) which has 3 Lines and 8 extensions R1 to R6 and it has 5 Lines and 9 extensions on the R7.

safer to stay with a 6 , 7 has been awfully buggy

They also tell me that the 206 mods have some bad ports on them and they need more phones. So a new R6 Processor would bring with it 8 new ports; is that correct?

Also, just to verify, will the new r6 Processor work with the old 206-R4.1 and 206E-R3.1 modules?

I am starting to think the best thing to do is replace the whole system.

I tend to agree with the replace the whole system idea. The 206s are old. The following might be a good build for you, but checking with a local Avaya Business Partner might be worthwhile:

1. (1) New 5 module carrier.
2. (1) Partner ACS (R6) processor.
3. (1) 308EC expansion module.
4. (1) Partner Voice Messaging or Avaya Partner Messaging Voicemail [optional].

The existing Partner telephone sets could be reused.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

like Dexman says the 206s are old but there are lots still functioning just fine

you could use them with a ACS6 and then replace them with 308s when they started having issues

I have seen this i call it Ghosting

because the partner systems have bugs in some of the programming and fault out I.E. decide to call on its own, lights flash, static on the lines etc.

Replace to a ACS if you can get one.
