I saw an ad for a slim 5 slot carrier on a site (won't say which one).Is there any difference between the slim and the regular besides one has a cover and one doesn't?

The slim 5 slot carrier as far as I know is just the new carrier. I don't think you can get the older bigger carrier new anymore. I've installed the new one a few times & it seems avaya didn't think it all the way out. When put on & remove the cover the cards get in the way. It's been a wile but I think it has a lip at the bottom & that hits the the cards.

I often grumble when having to remove & restore the cover to the new carrier. The "sub housing" that was made to accommodate the recessed retaining screw is too large and bumps into the bottom of the ACS processor. [curse]

Having said that, the cover does offer some protection from dust, dirt and most "falling objects". Module spacing is much better with the new 5-slot carrier than with the old 5 slot carrier.

I would think it is the older white 5 slot carrier, the newer ones are grey and the cards are farther apart

The pictures I've seen of the "slim 5 slot carrier" make it look like a new carrier minus the lid. The retaining latches on the top of the carrier are the giveaway.

Yup i was wrong it is the new grey carrier without the cover

Thanks it looked like a regular carrier but you never know. I remember when Avaya came out with the bling bling gray carrier, and I thought man that looks pretty cool until I tried to put the cover on. Pretty cool went to this sucks in .25 seconds. I hope someone with some influence at Avaya reads this. TRY AGAIN.
