Partner recertification exam

Has anyone taken the partner recertification exams? I have to take both the CE and CR exams and I would prefer to pass them on my first go around. Getting my boss to come up with $1500 was hard enough as it was, I don’t want to explain to him that I didn’t pass. For this exam there are electives that you can take, for CR its SQL or OLAP or Complex formulas. Anyone dealt with these electives? I am just trying to figure out where the best study source is. I have all of the Manuals from the CE and CR classes, should I look anywhere else?

No real answer to your question I'm afraid, but what might be some good advice. - I was at a seminar recently given by a Crystal Partner, the employees of which had all just had to sit the recertification exams. Their opinion was that the exams were extremely badly worded. There was some rumour that the guy who wrote them was actually fired, but I'd be surprised if there is any truth in that, since presumably all exams go through a review process before release. - Either way, they weren't good.

Having said this, they did all pass the exams, although I think with some considerable relief. My advice to you, if its feasible, would be to hold off the exams for at least a couple of months until they've got things sorted out.

If you have all the manuals for the CE and CRE classes, then you pretty much have all the written material you need. I would also add that you should have a good working knowledge of both pieces of software as there are questions that require you to know the ins and outs of the software.

I personaly sat all the CRCP exams this summer and didn't think they were worded extremely bad. There were some that could have been better, but I thought most of it was fine. From what I understand, the recert exam is very similar to the 3 CRCP ot the 3 CECP exams depending on which you take. I would check out some of the other posts in this forum to get a better idea of what others have gone through.

Lastly, I would add, to use the comments on the exam questions. I know that some people who intially failed, were passed based upon the comments they made on the exam, which justified the answer that they provided.

I sat my CRCP exam today. Had to get 80% to pass. I had a total of 67 questions. I Passed!!! The thing that threw me were all of the Business view questions. I think there was 10 or 11 of them. That is a huge percentage out of 67 questions. So if you haven't learned BV, don't take this test. I take my CECP Thursday. Will see what happens!!

Congrats! Good luck on the CECP exam.

BTW, sounds like we will all be doing this again next year since they just released the BETA for version 11.
