I am installing a Partner R7 with a T1 module and I am having two problems. 1) I can get dial tone from a T1 channel but I can't dial any digits for exactly 5 seconds. 2) Calls coming in do not ring on the set although I have the extension programmed to do so. The T1 is going through a channel bank (it's called a SHARK). It is set up as ESF B8ZS and the channels are configured as FXS/LS the channels are also set up as centrex. I am not doing DIDs, each channel has a "POTS" line associated with it for inbound and outbound purposes. I appreciate any help.

Thanks!

Slow dial: Sounds to me like the FXS ports are awaiting integration digits and finally timing out before accepting touch tones. It's a sure bet the Shark has a timer or feature incorrectly set, like it's waiting for a wink on a loop start line or such.

No ring: same thing. If the Shark doesn't see what it's expecting from the CLEC, it won't set up the call correctly and it won't pass through.

Contact tech support for your Shark, if they're worth a darn they'll know the answer long before you finish your explanation.

I did talk to Shark tech support and they told me that there were no such timers in the channel bank. This was somewhat confirmed by the Verizon installer. He connected to the T using his T-Berd equipment and was able to go off hook and dial out immediately. We also monitored incoming calls and saw the bits toggle. What if I tried to bypass the Shark?...I think this is worth a try, I'll let you know what happens.

If you have a T1 module for the Partner, why are you using a channel bank?

The customer/Verizon wanted to utilize the first 8 channels of the T, so the channel bank is breaking them off and they are being used as "analog" lines.

I had the same problem with a Partner Release 6 with a T-1. The T-1 service provider was using a Cisco router and a Cisco Switch to provide the T-1 service. If you tried to dial too fast the cisco equipment wouldn't see the first digit you dial. It seems that the Cisco equipment is not seeing a wink from the Partner system.
I gave the T-1 provider a duplicate partner system to test in their office. The service provider is telling me that they are setting it up so if there equipment (cisco) doesnt see 11 digits it will put the 1 in front to prevent the failure of outbound calling. They haven't updated the customer system yet so I don't know if it will work. I will let you know. I would be curious to know if The Shark is using cisco equipment.

I bypassed the Shark and still had the problems. I was told by Avaya TSO that there are issues with R7 and the T1 module. They recommended that I use R6 and install revision R.85.O but this didn't help at all either. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Is the switch they are using a Cisco? I tried to bypass the equipmemt on-site as well but the T-1 was still being supplied by Cisco equipment at their Operations center. I still had the same problem after by passing the onsite cisco equipment.

can you give more detail as to how the T-1 is being delivered to the partner T-1 module?, the module is looking for a T-1 in, using channels 9-24, can you reply as to the model of this bank that's being used?

I will check on the T1 equipment at the CO. The Shark has the following information on it: 9SA-CHA5-000. I'm assuming it is delivering the T1 correctly, because I can draw dialtone on channels 9-24 and there are no slips or errors.
