Partner R7 question

I replaced an R6 today with an R7 and it didn't work. I was told R7's are not suppose to work in Partner 2 cabinets but sometimes they do. I just wanted to get another opinion. I have a new carrier but it would have been alot more work and down time for the office if I had to replace the carrier. Thanks, Mike
I would get a new carrier , their cheap enough compared to the price of the processor
but yes it should work , if the "tongues " on the bottom have the curled up pieces on the end they need to be cut off to allow the processor to seat properly
