I installed a Partner II R4.1 with six twelve button phones. I added an additional twelve button phone recently. The problem is when an incoming call comes in on line 1, when the new phone user picks up the phone it selects Line 3. I programed it that way because I like the outgoing calls to use the highest number and the incoming calls use the lowest numbers. How do I make it so when you pick up the handset it picks up the incoming call on Line 1? I made it work by copying an existing extension to the new extension.

thank you

That extension was most likely set to no ring. Changing auto line select only changes the order of the lines being used to make calls. Its a common problem people have. There will be 2 phone close to each other. One with the lines set to ring and one set to no ring. The person using the phone that is set to no ring will hear the other phone ring and pick up their phone to answer it and get dial tone on a different line.

Let me make sure I understand. Setting the order of line pickup with the handset by the telephone user has nothing to do with picking up the incoming call when you pick up the handset.

The picking up of the incoming call has to do with how you have the telephone set to ring, i.e. ring or no ring. If you have it set to ring the telephone user will be able to answer the incoming call when they pick up the handset regardless of what extension they are at.

Would this be the same if I were installing an ACS R6.0?
