Newbie here hoping for some advice:

We have a 4 line system with VMS. Extensions run from 11-18.

When line 1 is in use, the automated voicemail will not pickup regardless of what extension is in use.

I know this may be a beginner question, but i've spent 3 hours on this and i'm about spent.

Thanks.

does line 2 actually ring?
if so then you need to assign the lines for VMS coverage just like line 1.
if not then you need to get rollover lines.

VMS coverage:
Use #506 to control the number of rings before the AA answers.

use #206 group 7 to assign the lines (look what line 1 is set to, option 1 is assigned option 2 is unassigned option 3 if you want a vm box to pick up instead of the Auto Att)

Interrupt the silence only if you improve it by saying something, otherwise be quiet and everybody will be grateful.

Are you sure that Line 1 hunt to Line 2 when Line 1 is in use? And that is a telephone company feature, not a phone system feature

I guess it's only 1 line which rolls over to another line if someone is using it.

sorry lefty6 does that mean if line 1 is in use that line 2 actually rings if the first one is called?

I was able to fix it. Lines 2 and 3 were not assigned to any group, so if someone was on line 1 it would roll over to line 2 and would not go to VMS.

All i had to do was assign each line to auto attendant like you said, Westi.

Thanks!
