When the VM answers it produces our greeting, that says "leave a message after the tone" waits 3-4 seconds and then says "your call is being transfered" rings ex10 which answers and says "your party is not available, please leave a message after the tone". Is this Normal operation or are some settings amiss. would like it to go direct to message taking mode from the AA greeting.

Thanks
JEB

Check to make sure that the correct ports are assigned to Hunt Group #7.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Oops...Another possibility is that the main greeting was changed to "leave a message after the tone". Try recording another one and see what happens.

Thanks, Dexman

Ports 78&79 Assigned
Will try resetting greeting and advise

The Automated Attendant is answering the call initially, and when the caller doesn't dial an extension number, the call is timing out and transferring to Ext. 10, where the call is also not answered, which covers to Mailbox 10, which has the default message of "Your party is not available".

If you don't want the auto attendant to answer first, and give your callers the option of dialing a specific extension, then change your setup to have mailbox 10 cover the incoming lines, and record Mailbox 10's personal greeting to say "Thank you for calling XYZ Company, please leave a message at the tone."

If you want the Auto Attendant to answer first, record the AA greeting to say "Thank you for calling XYZ Company. If you know your party's extension number, please dial it now, or to leave a general message, press 0 or simply stay on the line". Then record Mailbox 10's greeting to say "You've reached our general mailbox, please leave a message at the tone"

Thanks, Tommy.

So the PC-mail AA doesn't actually have it's own "General" mail box. Therefore we have to co-opt Station 10's to work around.

' Actually only need 3 subscriber boxes. Any way to use that left over box as The General and still have a box for each user at 10, 11 & 12?

Thanks again,
JEB

There is a work around. You could use the fourth mailbox as a general mailbox if you direct the callers to press a digit, like 5, for the general mailbox. Program Selector Code 5 to go to the fourth mailbox, and don't give the caller the option to press zero in the main message. Most callers will follow your instructions. However, you may get an occasional "general message" in X10's mailbox.

The negative is: if you don't have a phone at that extension, you won't have a message waiting light to indicate a new message. You will have to keep going into that mailbox to see if you have a new message.
