I am undertaking programming my system and have no background in this program/area and looking for assistance. I am searching for in-depth literature explaining the different features and programming options. I have been reading the help files, and this is helpful, but still is not clear for me.
Here is a specific example: I am looking at the options in the Dial 0/ Timeout Properties dialog box. There are five, four of which are related and the other is independent.
I have only the following options, the first four are catergorized under the heading of:
TRANSFER TO:
1. Call Anwser Service Operator Extension
2. General Mailbox Extension
3. Mailbox Extension
4. Extension
The last one, #5 is independent:
5. Disconnect

I think I understand the classification, however the options I do not- could someone either point me to detailed documentation or explain them further.....
1. What is the Anwser Service Operator
2. Differences between the three Extensions, General Mailbox, Mailbox and Extension.

A comprehensive guide would be extremely helpful, if anyone knows where I might locate this.

Regards,

YLP

Other than the manuals, and any FAQ's on the Avaya support site, experience will tell you what the different options will do.

1. What is the Anwser Service Operator
Where calls go by default when someone presses 0 from a mailbox, and the default for the Dial 0/Timeout of an Auto Attendant's Day Menu.

2. Differences between the three Extensions, General Mailbox, Mailbox and Extension.

Transfer to the General Mailbox - A special mailbox for EACH Auto Attendant. 9991 for AA1, 9992 for AA2, etc. The default recorded message is "Joyce the Voice" saying "After the tone, please leave your name, telephone number, and a brief message" (you can change it to a more personalized message). The General mailboxes can be individually set to light up at any extension, but 10 get's then all by default. The reason for a General Mailbox is to allow Ext. 10 to have its own private mailbox, and callers who don't know specifically who to leave their message for, go to the General mailbox.

Mailbox Transfer - when the caller presses the selector code (or nothing at all if you are dealing with the Dial 0/Timeout option), the call goes immediatly to the mailbox without ringing the extension first.

Extension Transfer - Caller presses the Selector Code (or times out for 0/timeout) and the call rings at the extension specfied. If the Extension also has VMS Coverage, it will ultimatly end up at the Extension's mailbox.

You can set the Call Answer Service Operator to one extension, so when callers 0 out of a mailbox without a Personal Operator, they go one place, and then set the Dial 0/Timeout to a different extension for those calls to go to.
