Partner Messaging R7 Amber LED Problem

I am in the process of replacing a defective Partner ACS R1 Processor module with an R6 processor (actually a different R1 module that has been updated to R6 firmware).

The system has a Partner Messaging R7 module. After I upgrade the main ACS Processor Module, the Messaging Module has a steady amber LED and is not functional. It works fine with the original R1 Processor Module.

Any suggestions on what the problem is?

Have you done any of the programming on the new R6? If you don't assign the voice mail ports in #505-7, the voice mail system will not come up.

I have had issues with older carriers (tan with the ATT or Lucent logo on the cover) with the 509 module and expansion modules. I have had to change the carrier when upgrading to an R7 a couple of times, despite the fact that they are supposed to be compatible.

I set up Hunt Group 7 with the same Voice Mail Extensions that were configured in the original R1 ACS Processor Module.

If Hunt Group 7 was set up incorrectly, would that prevent the Partner Messaging LED from going Green? With the original R1 Processor, I moved the Messaging module to a different slot in the carrier (without reconfiguring the R1 processor), and the LED still came up green.

It appears that this problem may be related to my 5 slot chassis. I suspect that this is one of the 1st Partner ACS chassis.

When I installed an ACS R3 Processor, the Partner Messaging R7 module worked in slots 1 and 2 but not slots 3 or 4.

I tried the Messaging Module in Slot 2 with the R6 ACS Processor (upgraded from R1.0). It did not work (nor did it work in Slots 3 or 4), so I gave up.

A heads up for anyone else who might run into this.
