I have a customer with a Partner Messaging R6.0 that was upgraded to R7. They have been programming the messaging module over the last week. This morning, they cannot access voicmail. When the AA answers after 4 rings - all they get is a "hum". When they try to access the VM via dialing 770 , they cannot get into the admin mailbox. The default password is rejected by the VM. They swear they did not change the default password (123456). Only one individual has been involved in programming. They also cannot access via LAN anymore - fortunately, they did do a full backup to their PC - but that was earlier in the week - and they did more programming on Friday that was not backed up. Any ideas of what to try? The hard drive was new and had a fresh R7 load.

Do a system reset. Simple way- power it down, wait a few seconds then power it back up.

When in doubt pull the plug out.

Hi Hal - Thanks - but the customer already tried that - and it had no effect. They are probably going to pull the module and send it back to me - to figure out what went wrong - and whether or not any of their programming efforts can be saved.

I was told this, but not experienced it. Dissconnect the LAN port cable as it may be in session yet. The other thing is, before upgrading, default, after upgrading, default. Not much good now, but for the future.
Wish I had some personal experience to share, this is whar another guy I worked with told me from his experience.

You do not always get what you pay for, but you never get what you do not pay for.

Ah well - I just loaded a fresh version of the software over whatever was there. Unfortunately, re-programming will now have to be done from scratch - no backup was made.

oops, default twice each time was what he said.
