have a newly installed partner messaging r6 on a partner II - originally installed using business schedule and it did not function properly - the phone showed 3pm (day) friday but the voice mail was playing the night greeting - worked fine under switch mode - now the time/date stamp is playing the wrong date and time (not sure if it was doing it the whole time) - any thoughts

Two thoughts:

When was the last time the system was power-cycled? Powering off, waiting 10 seconds, then powering up will initiate the clock sync operation between the PMR6 and the ACS. The time is drawn from the processor.

Was the telephone system processor defaulted before programming using #989CLEAR? I have seen corruption of the clock on display sets when it was not done, I can't say for sure that it could translate into a sync problem with voicemail, though.

What is the release of the Partner II? You must be at 4.0(? I'm sure someone will correct me if it is earlier) to have the internal clock of the Partner II sync the Partner Messaging. Before that release, only Partner Mail (the external PC type) was available, which has its own internal clock.

Pretty sure it was 3.1 as a minimum for a VS, but Brian or someone will definitely correct me.

Hi All,
I don't think a voicemail will work in the second cabinet unless you are are R4.0, minimum. I seem to remember that you should be at 4.0 for a bunch of stuff on the voicemail to work. That's a VS style voicemail.

392,
You can put the voice mail in the Expansion Carrier on a 3.1, The only rule is You must not install it in the first slot of the Partner Plus,Partner II, Partner 48 system primary carrier

Not sure about the clock though, I have a cust with Partner II 3.1 and VS4 in the second cab. and it's working fine. Haven't had the time problem as of yet.

Hi telprog,
You're lucky. I couldn't get the R3.1 expansion processor to accept the voicemail no matter what slot it went in. The vm now lives in the primary cabinet, slot 5. The primary processor was an R4.0.
-Chris

I've got it in the last slot on the second cab using 54,55,56,57. Damn thing works fine. Guess I better not touch it huh. I even swung by there to make sure it was a 3.1

here goes - main processor is r3.0 - partner access guide shows r3.1 as minimum for partner mail vs integration - if we get a r3.1 or r4.0 or 4.1 with the 3.1 expansion processor sounds like we'll be ok?

Yup, that will work. Be sure to have the nicad battery replaced before you go to the trouble of installing and programming it. We got stung once by a sales person not remembering the release issue, replacing the processor out of the warehouse with a used 4.1, and having the battery fail a month later.

Hi All,
Don't bet on an R3.1 expansion processor working. I have one where the vm will not initialize.
-Chris

It is already in and functioning in cabinet 2 with the 3.1 expansion processor - only problem is no integration with the Partner II as it is only R3 so the time and date stamp is wrong and the day / night greetings only change based on switch mode - otherwise it functions fine.

Here is a question for everyone - will a refurb processor sold from a reputable company already have a new battery?

It should have been changed. I do on all new rentals or used sales.
-Chris

to clarify my question - will a refurb partner II i as the dealer buy from a reputable used equipment reseller have had the battery replaced - i normally get a one year warranty on this stuff and assume they replace it prior to selling it but was curious to hear from everyone - thanks

Not always. In a $400 sale to a customer with the possibility of a $100 callback to reprogram, I have always found the $25 investiment in solder time and battery a wise investment. I can't tell when the battery was replaced, only if it looks "factory", so was it replaced last week, or last century?

I expect that many suppliers feel the same way, so why install a new battery on a module that may occupy a shelf for 2 years before a sale?
