I recently upgraded a Partner ACS R1 system to R6 via flash card. Prior to the upgrade, our Partner Messaging R1 board was working fine. The upgrade performed just as it was supposed to - I turned the system off, inserted the upgrade card, turned it back on and watched the LED on the processor flash greend/red until the upgrade was complete. I verified that the upgrade was successful via Feature 59 which now reveals "PACS R6.0.4S C01" - but now the Messaging board doesn't work. Its light is solid yellow and you get a busy signal when you dial 777 or one of the extensions assigned to the messaging board.

Any ideas why an upgrade like this would cause this behavior on the messaging board? Any way to get it out of this mode?

Verify that the Partner Messaging's ports are in Hunt Group 7.

If you are unsure of how to do this, post a list of modules and their positions in the cabinet.

I got this resolved although I'm not entirely sure how but I'll tell you what I did. I was reading through some PDFs on Avaya's support site and found that it is normal for the Messenger board to show a solid amber light while the processor upgrade is in progress, but that it should go back to green afterwards. This one didn't, but I had a hunch it didn't like something in the upgrade, so I got out an old ACS R3 upgrade card and flashed the processor back to R3 - the messenger board came back up. I then flashed again to R6 and this time it stayed up and works fine now. Dunno other than something must have glitched during the first upgrade to R6. Thanks for your help though!
