Using partner messaging R1 (on an ACS 5 system) and am curious how to (and if advised) use remote/lan administration. Software is discussed but I can not find anywhere...is it on the "card" (we are using a 4 port) or can it be downloaded or purchased?

The software is on the CD that came with the PM. (your vendor gave it to you, right?) The CD also contains the complete installation/programming manual; the sprial bound book is the System Administrator's Quick Reference guide.

The set up is pretty easy. You need to connect to the RS-232 port or modem into it and set the IP address to something that fits into your network. Or you can set it to a number that is 1 off from your PC and use the crossover adapter to connect directly to LAN port.

Once the IP is set, you log on as "sysadmin" using the same password that you set for mailox 0.

The GUI is fantastic for seeing how the system is set up, how the AA works, which mailboxes are built, and it's realy easy to modify them or create more mailboxes. The recordings for the AA, submenus, and announcements can be downloaded/uploaded to your PC.

My only complaint is that you can't capture the setup for offline reference, but through the direct or modem connection, you can capture some voluminous reports and sift through the data.
