I have a client who is currently set up with the traditional 2 digit extensions and the voicemail boxes are assigned accordingly. Now they want to add phantom extensions for voicemail and with Partner Messaging R1.0 they are capable of far more mailboxes than extensions. If you assign a mailbox to extension 58 or over it is impossible to transfer or retrieve voice mail due to conflicts with system features and default call group assignments.
Do I need to set up the partner to operate in 3 digit extension mode in order to utilize all of the mailboxes? What other adverse effects might I experience by changing the extensions from 2 to 3 digits?
Randy

As far as I know, you cannot change the extension dialplan for the Partner system. The ports are fixed starting with 10. You can, however, add phantom extensions in the 3-digit range. You just need to make sure if you have extensions that start with 10, 20, and 30 that you don't use 100, 200, or 300 because there will be a mismatch. You could have ghost extensions in the 400 range from the example above though.

To leave messages in these mailboxes you would have to dial Intercom 777, * 8, then the extension number. The operator would also have to do this to transfer callers to these mailboxes.

Use voice mail transfer(feature 14)instead of transfer.

So the only way to utilize the 100s and 200s and so on is to disable direct extension transfer under the selector codes for 1 and 2 etc.? I will try to assign extensions in the 500 series and see what happens.
Does anyone happen to know if I can put one touch transfer buttons on an adjunct for extensions 500 and above?

Tried this on a rel 6.0. If you set the VM for 3 digits, you can transfer from the AA to ext 10 or ext 100.

Hi 1043 is right. The vm just waits a touch longer before transfering the call.
