Does anyone know if a partner with messaging R1.0 can be upgraded straight to the new R8.0 with a new messaging card?

ACA - Implement: IP Telephony
ACS - Implement: IP Office

From what I've seen, converting to the R8 level can be done starting with the R6 processor. On paper, it sounds like you would have to flash the unit to the R6 level first.

Given the age of the R1 processor (which Avaya does not suggest that it be upgraded) I wouldn't even bother to try.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Are you wanting to flash an R1 MESSAGING to an R8?

Or flash the ACS to R8?

For the ACS, you must be an R7 to be able to flash to R8 (different hardware)

For the Messaging, R8 hasn't been released yet, but since you can flash R1 and R6 to R7, they will probably have a path to go to R8 when it hits.

I understood the question to be if a Partner ACS R1 with a Messaging card could be upgraded directly to R8 by using a flash upgrade card.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

And I also misunderstood what can be upgraded to what. [purpleface]

If you have an R6 processor, you can convert the programming using a tool and load it to an R8 processor. But, yes, the R7/R8 processors are different than the R1->R5 processors.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
