I installed a Partner Messaging 1.0 on a Partner ACS 4.0 last week. After a message is left on ext 10 the message light stays on after the messsage is retrived. I can turn it off with feature 10 but the vmail wont do it. I tried deleating and rebuilding the mailbox. ng. any ideas?

Hi - we just covered this in another thread. The default dial 0/timeout option for the night auto attendant is "record a message in the general mailbox", which is 9991 (for auto attendant no. 1). And by default, Ext. 10 get the MW indication for the general mailboxes. So check mailbox 9991 for the messages, and either change the dial 0/timeout to go to mailbox 10, (which means Ext. 10 has to share their personal mailbox with general messages), or teach the customer to check 9991. You can also attach the MW light to a different extension, perhaps one that doesn't have its own mailbox.

how many other extensions can have their mwi appear on a single station?

thx

None, only the General Mailboxes (9991-9994 for AA1-AA4) can have their "owners" assigned.

My admin at a site tried to check 9991 but does not know the password nor do I. What would the default password be for this mailbox?

The default password is non-exsistant. If no one has ever logged into the mailbox, when prompted for the P/W just hit #. You will then be told "your password is too short. You must choose a new password. Passwords can be from X to 15 digits. Enter new password and #". Follow the prompts to enter a P/W twice and you're in.

Now if someone has already set a password, and you don't know it, log into the System Administrator's mailbox, select 2 for mailboxes, enter mailbox 9991, and 3 to re-initalize the password (which really erases it, and you proceed as above.)
