You would need to set up a guest mailbox, point it to the auto attendant, and make that guest mailbox the personal operator for the RNA mailbox. The caller would press 0, be transferred to the guest mailbox and answered by the auto attendant.
Thanks Tommy...but then I'd have to do that for every mailbox in the system; isn't there a way for the caller to simply return to the main menu?
Thanks Again
Tom
OK, when you say a RNA, do you mean to an extension without a mailbox? So I select an extension, it transfers out, the extension rings, and because it doesn't have a mailbox, you want the call to return to the auto attendant? You could probably set the transfer return extension for the voice mail ports to be the guest mailbox from above, pointed back to the auto attendant, with Auto VMS Cover assigned and its VMS cover rings set to 1. Calls to extensions WITH mailboxes would just cover normally to their individual mailboxes.
Sorry for not being clearer....the scenario would be an outside caller transfered to an extension with a mailbox, the call goes unanswered and as the user's greeting is being played the caller can return the AA by pressing....
Thanks Again
Tom
If they want to return to the auto attendant, they need to transfer from that mailbox. So either the "Personal Operator" for the mailbox needs to go to a mailbox that is set as the auto attendant, or they can dial *8 and then the mailbox number.
So take an unused extension, something simple, say 55 (if you have a Partner II or ACS R3 or later). Give if Auto VMS Cover in #310. Make its VMS Cover Rings 1 in #321. In the Partner Messaging, go to Extensions, 2, enter the extension number and pound, 55#, assign it to an auto attendant, 3, and then select which auto attendant, 1.
In the mailbox greeting, you would say something like "leave a message at the tone, or to return to the auto attendant, press *855"
