I've never set up the directory in the PM. I see an option to create 1 or use the main directory 99. Can anyone explain pros and cons? I am only using 6 extensions. I also see a spell by type directory. It describes entering the letters, in Partner style a=21, but not how it works. I dont have the CU in front of me so I cant test it. Does the caller enter letters that way also?
Thanks in advance

99 means it plays the name recordings of all users that have it set up, if you create one means you record the names in a submenu and let people dial the extension from there. First option is nasty (IMHO) because you listen to all the different voices the second option is more work but sounds better.

When you program the Partner dail-by-name you enter letters as you stated above (21=a, etc). The caller just presses 1-digit per letter so it isn't confusing to the caller. If there are 2 entries that match, then it plays each persons recorded name to the caller so they can choose who to go to.

But you don't necessarily need to use the Dial by Name, or the built in directory 99. Just create a submenu, make the selector codes "Direct Extension Transfer" and record the names and extension numbers ("For Fred Flintstone, enter extension 10. For Barney Rubble, enter extension 11......)

I entered the letters in mailbox admin. Is there a way to enter letters from the AA greeting?

press *2 then you get the dial by name directory from any menu you are in
