This is what's going on. a small customer had a power hit/outage. The voicemail has been going up and down periodicly ever since. It went down on the 3rd. it came back up on the 6th. and the manger found "new" messages that he had deleted on the 3rd. he deleted them again. the voicemail was unavailable on the 7,8,9th. they finnaly got a hold of me on the 9th. i went there and the 777 was getting a busy. the 34 wich is there main voicemail number. was going ring no answer. i played around abit. and got the system back up. by re-seating the network cable and waiting for awhile.
After i left. the customer called me later on in the evening and said that he tried accessing the system and that it just rang and rand. I talked him thru...and it worked. It seems to me that somehow the programing is messed in the voicemail.
the questions are.
1. can i download the programming and Restore it after a hard shut down (power off and power on)
2. is there any way to download what's there now and then completly wipe the system. after which i would do a Restore.
3. What else can i do? is there a known bug on this?

I just want to get them to the point of where they are stable again and all these goofy things aren't happening.
Thanks in advance everyone!

First verify that your voicemail hunt group is correct. In a 2-port Partner Messaging you assign the first 2 stations to hunt group 7 as if there were a 206 module in the voicemail slot. 4-port would assign first 4 stations, 6-port would assign all 6 stations. Make sure no other stations are assigned to hunt group 7.

You should be able to do a backup of programming via the system admin mailbox (0). After verifying a successful backup you can initialize the voicemail by logging into mailbox 0, hit 9 for admin, then dial 989-25327 to initialize the voicemail. When the green LED on the voicemail stops flickering you can then log back into mailbox 0 and do a restore of programming. Brian Cox

Hi Radarblue,
Is there a UPS on the system? I have found that short "dirty" power fails will do that. I have customers that had the same problem, the UPS solved it. If the customer has an up to date backup, then restore, don't back-up. Sometimes, just turning the system off for 30 s will clean up the problem (until the next event).
If you have an ACS proccessor and remote admin, check the diagnostic log. Look for cold starts and the number will show you how many power fails you had. The number includes intentional power cycles.
