I have a Partner ACS 3.0 or 4.o. It has a partner mail on it 6 ports. I added a mailbox last week and the client wants to be notified of any messages on that mailbox to a cell phone. I went in and activated outcalling, i went in to mailbox features and set up the out calling in the mailbox and imput a number. It is not out calling. It is not taking a kine and dialing out. I have confirmed all the programs I know. The ports are assigned with no restrictions, they can dial out. I have put a 9 and pause in the dial srting. What am i missing.....

Try adding more pauses. I have had to add as many as 3 pauses in the outcalling number, so 9***18475555555. You should be able to watch the lines after a msg is left and see the system attempt to access a line if it is set-up properly.

the other thing you can do to watch is is put busy indicators for the VM ports on a phone and watch to see if one goes off hook to try and dial.

Are there lines assigned to the VM ports? #301

External Partner Mail? Use a regular telephone to test the ports. It will get Intercom first, but it will sound like Outside dial tone. Pressing 9 should get you an outside line.

will try the pauses and let you know thanks guys...

I went back to site programmed the ports on a button and inserted pauses. It did not seem that the ports were ingaging from what I saw. There were a few times a port went on but that could have been someone checking a message.all ports have access to all lines, no restrictions just local calls. allowed lists are assigned eventhough there is nothing in them. I put pauses after the 9 and between the number. It is like the mailbox is not getting out on a line ??? what can I do next ???

Make sure auto line select for the vm ports is set to select the intercom dialtones first and then the line ports. It could be the vm port is set to grab an actual line and therefore not liking the "9" at all.

Sounds like you've already checked restrictions on the vm ports, but you may just want to double check that again. Sounds like a head scratcher.

Sounds like a good idea i will do that and advise..

Thank You

Regarding the Auto Line Select - when you assign an extension to Hunt Group 7, several things happen automatically, including that the Intercom Dial Tone is changed to sound like Outside dial tone, and the Auto Line Select is set to Intercom, then Line 1, Line 2, etc.

If they were accessing an outside line first, you would never get message waiting lights to go on and off.

So the basics to look at:
Line assigned to the VM ports in #301
Not restricted through #302, #307, #315, #401, #405, or locked with Feature 21.

Perhaps take the ports OUT of hunt group 7, copy something like Ext. 10 to each one of them, and then put them BACK into Hunt Group 7.

do you have have dial out with a 9 on your phone lines ? you will need to input a second 9 with your vm out calling

Okay some success.....
I went to site, checked all programming as discussed... I have it working BUT,,,, I had to put in the string 803 pause and the number. So it works on 801-802 or 803 not on 804.. Dial 9 it is not working it seems to grap the port but then the port lite go's off in 2-3 seconds. I tried 9 with 1, 2 and 3 pauses no difference... So it works on line 3 with 803. What should I do to see why 9 is not working. They want to activate a few more extensions also so line by line will be an issue....

When you say "Partner Mail", do you mean the older external PC box that connects with line cords to station ports, or Partner Messaging, the module that goes in the carrier and has a port license card? That will help with troubleshooting.

What other cards are in the system? And is there any possibility that you can use the Remote Administration program to get a copy of the translations and post them or email them?

So it's either Partner Mail VS or Partner Messaging

Unfortunately, you can't put a butt set on the port extensions and monitor what they are doing.

So, as you've probably already done, put an Auto-Intercom button for each VM port on a phone, so you can watch the activity.

Only the last, or last 2 (on a 6 port version) ports do the outcalling (and set the MWI lights). So you will see a brief off hook on that after every message is received, or when messages are cleared from a box.

You might try using Copy, #399, to copy one of the VM port extensions to an actual extension port, plug in a phone, and do some experimentation with that phone. See what it accesses when you lift the handset, what it does when you press 9, etc. Be sure to remove it from Hunt Group 7 when you're done, or copy something like Ext. 10 to that test port.

So what do we do about the dial 9 issue. We can I look to see if I can get the 9 to work on the outcalling side. They do want a few more extensions to use this feature....so I want to see if I can get it to go out on any line as opposed to doing the 801-802-803 thing ???

Doing a copy from your last VM port to another port that you can connect a phone to will let you test to ability to dial 9, and what lines are accessed in what order.

Personally, I would copy Ext. 10 to each of the VM ports, then go back and put each one into Hunt Group 7. That will put the line access restrictions (and lack thereof) from Ext. 10 to the VM ports, which will start picking up incoming calls incorrectly, until you add them back to the hunt group.

And again, a configuration file from the Remote Administration GUI could show exactly what is going on.
