Partner ACS rls 4 , 2-206 cards, Partner mail VS rls 4 transformer up the street blew and so did system, replaced ACS 4 and VM 4.0 cards....added grounding... ect...

While setting up the AA in the day menu prompt, trying to set selector code 5 to an announcement for a company directory, so callers can do a *8-10 ...ect for each ext. However, while trying to change the 5, from the direct ext trn to "3" for announcement it says invailed entry after it gives "3" as an option to change it to announcement. What am I missing in the set up ?

as always, thanks for your time and assistance

Announcements weren't added until VS Release 5

You might use a selector code to transfer to a mailbox, with its VMS Coverage Rings set to 1, and record your directory there. Only issue is the possibility that someone will leave a message there.

Announcements were added with VS Release 4.0. After you press '3' it will ask you what Announcement number, 1 or 2. It will then ask you to record a new announcement. I'm not sure why you are getting invalid reply.

By announcements, are you asking about the greeting that plays when the auto attendant answers a call or are you thinking about extra messages that can be recorded (for example...the Avaya Partner Messaging can store up to 99 of them) [ponder]

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

retiredtelco - you are absolutely correct that R4 has announcements - the Avaya support site lists it starting with R5, but just checked the R4 manual, and it is certainly there.

This rls 4 has an expansion card for 20 mailboxs, could that have anyeffect on the announcements ?

Not really. The expansion card unlocks 2 additional access ports to the voicemail and enables 20 voicemail boxes.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Turns out it was a bad card, started having more problems, lines answering then hanging up, not answering with correct greetings, not keeping user mailbox greetings, ect...

With the exception of the R5, Avaya no longer supports the Partner Mail VS platform. Even though they are available on the secondary market in "refurbished" condition, when a PMVS goes toes up the usual solution is to upgrade to the Avaya Partner Messaging.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
