I have a customer with a Partner ACS R3.0, PARTNER MAIL VS R5.0 module W/PARTNER MAIL VS 4-PORT EXPANSION CARD. The problem is that the voicemail freezes up. When this happens no messages can be left or retrieved. #728-reset and save all, clears the voicemail and then everything works. Nothing else has been done as far as troubleshooting but using #728. This is the third time that it's happened. Please respond with possible solutions to this problem.

Hard drive is failing/failed in the VS5 module. Time to buy a replacement.
 
Sometimes just powering down the carrier, pulling the VS mail out and then pushing the card back into the carrier can fix this problem. You can also try clearing the module of all it's programming and then reprogram it. They do make replacement hard drives for the vs mail if you want to go that route.
 
Is the phone system going down at all at this time? I have seen VM not come back up after a short power interuption, or brown out on the power(low voltage, like the lights dim). A UPS can help in ths situation, and here is the way to test the power.
Plug the system into a power strip, get an alarm clock that if unplugged goes back to blinking midnight for the time. Plug the alarm clock in and set the time, if issue happens check the time on the clock, if it is not correct, = power issue.

Yes, I am cheap, but it does work to show a power issue, lol.
