Hello,

Have an ACS R5, with two 206 (left to right, 206,206,ACS,) and now when I dial ext 777 from ext 11, it rings but doesn't answer. It has answered previously, but removed the module, for a while, and now when I reinstall it, faced with the no answer situation.

This unit has never been programmed fully, I have reset all passwords previously and when the Mail VS is installed, the autoattendant does route all calls to the receptionist.

I am mystified, any suggestions on why it won't answer 777?

Thanks,

Jeff

are the vm ports assigned to hunt group 7 ?
# 505

You posted that you have (left to right, 206,206,ACS,) but you don't list any Voice Mail? Is it a PC mail or what. If you do have mail then you need to make sure you have them and only them in hunt group 7 as skip stated.

What do you mean by "and now"?? Did you change something or did the VM just stop working? Also as others have asked, in what slot is the VM installed?

Skip555--I use PC Admin, and belive the VM ports are assigned to hunt group 7, is this what #505 refers to?

Telprog--I didn't list the Partner Mail VS with the cards, but yes, it's installed in the slot to the right of the ACS 5.

hbis/Hal--I wasn't clear, sorry. I had the Mail VS installed, and was able to access the main prog menu via intercom 777, then I removed the Mail VS from the rack, and now that I have reinstalled the Mail VS, and am ready to program it, when I intercom 777, all I hear is constant ringing, it never answers!

I can't think of anything I changed, only thing I am not sure about is accessing Mail VS when it was installed in this rack, with ACS 5. I know I accessed the main menu programming when the Mail VS was installed in a rack with an ACS 7. I could take it over to the rack with an ACS 7, but am somewhat relucant to, since I don't like to mess with working systems...the ACS 7 is a new install.

Thanks for all the ideas, any further suggestions? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeff

If it was programmed while in a R7 then your ports are wrong as the ACS R7 is a 5x9 and the ACS R5 is a 3x8, more then likely your ports are one off

it's installed in the slot to the right of the ACS 5.

With an ACs and two 206's and the PMVS in the slot immediately to the right of the ACS you would assign extensions 35 & 34 to #505 group 7 if your PMVS is a 2 port or 35,34,33,32 if it is a 4 port.

Telprog--I can see where programming the PMVS extensions could screw up the ports, but I thought all settings for ports were assigned via the ACS, in which case, I don't understand how the PMVS thinks it has the wrong slots, since I have set the hunt group 7 extensions as I thought they should be (see below) for the PMVS now installed in the ACS 5. Hmmm, how the heck am I going to be able to program the PMVS correctly, since I can't intercom 777 into the PMVS.

Hbiss--I definetly don't have the group 7 extensions assigned to 34 and 35 (it's a two port), but can't figure out why it's supposed to be 34 and 35. ACS (R5)is 10-17, first 206 is 18-23, second 206 is 24-29. Guess if I included the telco jacks on the 206's, 34 and 35 would make sense. I didn't count the telco jacks, since I didn't think I was supposed to, don't think I have on the Partner Mail R1, when it was installed on the ACS 5. Is this something specific to the PMVS, or what? And if so, I will be darned if I know how I set hunt group seven to the right numbers, when I was playing with the PMVS on the ACS 7.

I just wish I could intercom 777, and access the PMVS setup, and program it the way they need.

Any ideas?????????

Thanks for everything,

Jeff

Ok you do have the wrong ports assigned. Go into system programming and to #505 7 then take assign ports 34 and 35 then take out the others that aren't supoose to be there. You should then be able to intercom 777 and admin your VS.
When you program the VS you treat it as a 206 as far as the port numbering goes.

FYI, Partner VS and Partner Messaging authorize ports in opposite directions. Here is an extension layout similar to what you are dealing with:

206|206|ACS|PVM (2 port)

18 | 24 | 10 | 30 <-OK for PM
19 | 25 | 11 | 31 <-OK for PM
20 | 26 | 12 | 32
21 | 27 | 13 | 33
22 | 28 | 14 | 34 <-OK for PMVS
23 | 29 | 15 | 35 <-OK for PMVS
| 16
| 17

If you have a 2 port VS, it authorized the BOTTOM 2 ports (35 and 34)
If you have a 2 port PM, it authorizes the TOP 2 ports (30 and 31)

So since you have a PMVS, make sure that extensions 35 and 34 are in hunt group 7 in your Remote Programming.

Doe that make sense?

Telprog--thanks, I hunted through the manual to see why you said use 34 and 35, and finally, after reading the manual for two hours, found out why.

Dan--Thanks, thanks, thanks. Very clear explanation, sure you don't want to write manuals for Avaya? I did figure it out after reading the manuals, and remembered the last port vs first port on card deal. Wonder what Avaya was thinking when they put the VS on the last ports.

Thanks everyone. The people using this phone system are much happier.
