we have a system that has maxed out at the 20 mailbox limit - we currently have a 4x20 exp card in the system -
and have purchased a 4x40 upgrade card from a reseller avaya no longer sells these I am told -

any special instructions for installing the card - looked on line but could not find any info on replacing upgrade cards

power system down - replace exp card - power back up

will we lose messages and greetings ? - my hope is no as these would be on the hard drive on the actual Partner Mail VS board inserted into the carrier.

its an old system but we have done well by it .....

forgot to mention its r4 - found some info on r4 and r5 systems looks as if there are no backup options for r4 as there is for r5.

r5 install manual mentions if going from 2 port to 4 port all settings are saved ....

Correct about voicemail no longer being sold. The Partner Mail VS was discontinued years ago and replaced by the Avaya Partner Messaging.

The R4 processor does not have backup options like the R5, so adding the 4x40 card simply adds 20 more mailboxes.

Depending on which processor the system has, it would probably be worth while to replace the existing voicemail (when the time comes) with an Avaya Partner Messaging instead of another Partner Mail VS.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

Whoops. My last post should have said the R4 "voicemail" not "processor" [purpleface]

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
