I'm using AA to answer my main line after 3 rings. I tell the caller that they can transfer to the manager by pressing 8, then give them 2 options to hear announcements about upcoming event. My question is: once a caller is in to an announcement, can they punch out to the manager in the middle of the announcement? If so, what are the keystrokes to make this happen? I'd like to say " you may select option #8 at any time to transfer to the manager" / thanks / keith

In VS Mail, from the Announcements, you can only Zero out to the Operator, or repeat the announcement by pressing *#. If you don't do anything at the end of the announcement, it hangs up on you.

Upgrade to Partner Messaging, and use Submenus instead of Announcements, then you can still use selector codes to enter extension numbers or transfer to single digit options, as well as back up to the auto attendant.

Thanks TTTommy. I'm not sure this VS system will do what I'm wanting to do. This system is in a restaurant, and I use AA to answer the phone if my servers or bartenders can't get to it by 3 rings. I use the 2 announcements to give callers info on hours, specials and entertainment. On my old nortel meridian Vm system, I had 6-8 announcement options and you could punch out at any time to get to an extension. Will the upgrade you refer to offer me the flexibility do record more announcements (and make them shorter) and punch out to a human (other than Operator because I use extension 10 as my office phone) if the caller wants? thanks

you can try to press *8 and then the extension number to transfer but that is painful.
