Partner mail VS 5.0 not answering

Hi,

Avaya Partner system with Partner Mail VS 5.0 module.

All of a sudden the voice mail stopped answering. Dial Intercom 777, and either you get a busy signal, or it keeps ringing, or the intercom light blinks on the 18D phone.

I power cycled the unit, and after about a minute or two it came back up OK.

Should I be concerned, and what should I do if this happens again?

Sounds like the hard drive might be on the way out. If you have a backup/restore card in the VS Mail get a backup while you still can in case you need to replace the hard drive.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. Now that you mention it, I've seen other threads describing the same symptoms.

I do have a backup card. Do I just do a #124, or is there anything else I need to do? Are the voice mail messages saved with #124, or just the settings?

#124 saves the programming for the system. You need to go into the admin for the voicemail and do a backup there, although it does not save messages/greetings. It just saves the configuration.

There is an outfit that sometimes advertises replacement flash drives on eBay. However, I might suggest upgrading to the Avaya Partner Messaging R7 and going with the final voice mail developed for the Partner platform.
