Sorry I couldn't even come up for a good topic for this one.

I just upgraded from Partner Mail V3 to V5 to get more features. I am reading the new manual.

I need to ask a caller a few questions, that will generate different responses. "Choose one if you allow your pet to run free, chose 2 if your pet is always contained" (I work for the American Pet Association) If they choose 1 it will play one prompt and if they choose 2 it will transfer to another, eventually transfering them to an operator.

I have all of this working on our existing outdated sytem, but what is this called in the partner mail system?

Thanks guys, you have been a huge help.

You're looking for submenus, which are not available in VS mail.

Possibly Announcement 1 & 2 will do the job for you, although the caller will have to dial 0 to reach the Operator, otherwise it will disconnect at the end of the announcement.

That's no good. I guess for now I can use my old PC based system for that part of the our needs.

Can I transfer to my old PC voicemail system by just having it ring an extension and having the PC set up on that extention?

When the PC transfers back to another extension, what is the code for transfering to an extension (the current PBX system just requires the number, I believe the avaya require *8 and then the extension?)

Thanks

The stand alone Partner Mail had some advanced features that the Mail Vs didn't have. Even the newest Partner mail units don't have some of its features. If you want to set it back up, you need to reattach it the way it was: mail ports to ext ports and then program the ext ports to #505, group 7.

*8 to transfer:
You don't need to press *8 in either version in the AA menu. You can just press the ext number. In Partner Mail, sub menus are the same. Both require using *8 in all other areas where transfers are allowed.

How does the partner mail stand alone work? I assume it interfaces with the Partner system? What version is reasonable? V3?

Thanks!

There are vm ports on the back of the mail unit. You plug an extension cord into each one and plug the other end into an extension on the Partner system. You then program the PACS to see it.

Release 3 is the last one made for that unit.
