customer has a Partner mail Rel 3.1 (stand alone ) 6 port behind a ACS rel 6.0

Sometimes when you enter *2 for a directrory it starts ringing , you can hear the directrory message in the background but you cant enter anything and it winds up taking you to the attendent

other times it works fine like its supposed to . I went in today thinking I could nail it to a port or card but it does it on all ports .

the only thing I can think to do is hook up the laptop and initilize .

any other suggestions ?

Hey skip,
Try to sub the power supply. It's possible the thing has gone noisy. This is an easy thing to try.

thanks for the reply Chris

it does seem that if it where the noisy power supply other selector codes would be malfunctioning also

as far as /I can see everything is working fine , its just *2 that screws up

I'll give the power supply a try and then report back

Hi skip,
The most common failure with those are power supplies followed by hard drives. I figured that the power supply was the cheapest and easiest to try. Rebuilding the vm is a pain, it would take a lot of time (=$$$). Replacement HD makes it worth your while in the customers eye's since if the reprogram fails, ya gotta do it again with the new drive. Or, replace the entire shooting match with a messaging if it will fit. The final solution is to live with it. With today's business, many are just suffering through it.

I wish you luck!,

turns out the "stick" line sharing device is hooked up to 3 lines for modem dial in

the "stick" defualts *1 phone port , *2 fax port *3 modem port

so if the call came in on one of the lines that the stick was on the "stick" would try to transfer the call once it heard the *2

so it wasn't a partner or partner mail issue after all.
