Hello Folks,

I'm at my wits end here... I purchased a used Partner ACS System with one 509 processor, 3 308 modules, and Partner Mail version 5.0 4 ports in a 5 Slot carrier. Since this system is going into a much smaller business and the 308's aren't needed, I removed those and placed VMS is in position 1, and 309 in position 3. I have set the prescribed extensions into hunt group 7 (20, 21, 22, 23) and have come up with a curious problem.

When either attempting to log into voicemail or waiting for voicemail to pick up after the 3 rings as set with VMS cover delay, there are times the VMS will pick up right away and not ring more than a half ring, and then there are times that it takes 4 additional rings before VMS will activate. Just to rule out my moving the modules around, I put everything back the way I found it with VMS back in slot 5 and set those extensions into hunt group 7. I still had the same problem...

I can't seem to find any inconsistencies with the programming that would cause this delay one out of 3 times. I'm thinking one of the ports on the VMS is just taking longer to pick up or isn't picking up at all and its bouncing to another port (since its happening one out of three times, not one out of four), but have no idea how to correct it.

Can someone help? I appreciate it.

Thanks!

The 509 processor is Ext. 10 through 18, so the 1st slot is 19 through 24.

It seems that you have a Partner Mail VS with a 4-port card, so it is going to be the LAST 4 ports on the slot, in this case 21, 22, 23, and 24.

Put those in Hunt Group 7, and NO others, and you should be good to go.

Thanks very much! That did the trick!

I took another look at the module and it does indeed say Partner Mail VS R5.0... I didn't know that made that much of a difference...

And yes there is a PCMCIA card for the 4 port expansion. Its funny that the installation manual didn't give me the correct numbers in the dial plan....

I thank you for your help!

grs033...If and when you ever set up another voice mail, a good tool/trick to see which extensions are picking up, is to assign them temporarily to a button with lamps on a phone..
i.e....a busy lamp button for each one...then call each one to test or just call the voice mail system [ icm 777 ] and watch to see which extension, [ in your case 21,22, 23,24 ] lights up.

Its funny that the installation manual didn't give me the correct numbers in the dial plan....

The installation manual is probably referring to the older 3x8 Partner ACS processors. Adding the one extra extension shifts everything over by one.

Partner Mail VS is a module that occupies a slot in the carrier. Partner Mail is an external box that hangs on the wall and is connected to extension ports.
