I recently purchased a used Partner Mail R3.0 for our office at an auction. When we try to go into the system to do programming, it will not accept the default passwords. It will not take the serial number as a password either. We are unable to get a hold of the previous owners so we cannot ask them what they changed the password to. Does anyone know of any way to either get in to the system (sys admin) or reset the system completely? Any advice/tips would be sincerely appreciated.

Hi allaboutphones,
Did you turn the voice mail off before trying the serial number trick? You only have about 10 min. to enter the serial number after voicemail power up. After that, it won't work.

Mongo is right on the money, use 2537 for the password. You can also default the voice mail to factory settings. I can e-mail the info if you would like.

Actually, he states that it is Partner Mail R3.0, not any of the VS versions, so 2537 won't work here. It _should_ be log into 9997 using the S/No. as the P/W, when it says good-bye, power off and back on, then after reboot log into 9997 and set the new P/W

Good call TTT, It didn't even dawn on me that it wasn't a VS. allaboutphones, Tommy is right. Guess I better read a little more closely. Sorry!

did you try 9997 mailbox number than 123456. than 9 than 654321.

Thanks everyone for the tips. We are going to try them this evening and try and get the thing up. I'll let you know.

Again, thanks for all the tips, Touchtone Tommy and itpphoneguy, you guys were right on. We had tried the serial number approach, but did not know that there was a time limit and did not reboot the system. We followed your recommendations and got it taken care of. Thank you for your help.

I encountered a Merlin Mail R3 today, which is the same platform as a Partner Mail R3. Customer aquired the system from the former tenant who moved and bought a new system. Anyway, I was able to reset the password by using the serial number, no time limit involved, as the system has been running for years before I got to it. There may still, however, be a time limit for that first log-in to 9997 after the power down/up sequence. Don't know, didn't have time to test that.

Hi TouchToneTommy,
I couldn't log in to tek-tips for a week. Upgraded to Netscape 7.0 Hummm. Let me know how the Merlin Mail R3 works out. The instructor was pretty clear about the Partner Mail. You never know.
I do know that Avaya can unlock a Partner mail remotely (transfer them to I-777), so there is another back door as Avaya doesn't know the serial number. Yup, paid Avaya for that one.
