I have a Partner ACS 5.0 phone system with a large Partner Voice Messaging Card (2x16). It's been installed for about a year. The voicemail assignments (selector codes etc..) were orginally setup about a year ago. Let's call this configuration 'A'. About 5 or 6 months ago, we changed some of the selector code assignments. Let's call this 'newer' configuration 'B'.

The problem is that when we lose power, the system reverts back to configuration 'A'. In other words we lose all the changes we made about 5 or 6 months ago. We then recreate all the changes to arrive back at configuration 'B'. But, the next time the power goes out we go back to configuration 'A'. Why doesn't the card store our new settings permanently? We installed a battery backup which helps in the event of a short power interruption. Is the card bad? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Yup, we are seeing the same problem and Avaya says they can't duplicate the problem. I know of at least 3 sites that have these issues.

One weird case was one card that my boss programmed in the office, and then powered off/on to check for the problem. The first time it failed. The second and third times it held. When I took it out to the customer site, programmed it to the customer's specs., powered off/on, it reverted to the boss's settings, not the default!

If anyone has any info or solutions, I'd sure like to know.

I had this problem to, At one location it went back to the program that I had changed from so I got curious and programmed it again, but this time I did a system backup also and then powered down, It held! makes me wonder if its defaulting to the program date according to when the system was last backed up.

Give it a try and let me know what yours does.

I've backed up several times but I don't believe the "backup" contains any of the true voicemail settings like selector codes. I believe those settings are stored on the actual Voice Messaging Card?!

Yes I know the ACS doesn't store any of the voice mail programming, I was wondering if the voice mail was setting itself back to the date of the last backup being that it clocks itself from the system. I worked for me but I had it happen only once so it maybe just a lucky coincident.

Could I be having the same problems? We have a customer that every few days loses the aa greeting, but that is it. All the mailbox settings and recordings are the same.

This is interesting, what releases are your ACS's. The one we had problems with was in a R5, never had this on the 4 and below, had fialures but no wierd program loss. Don't have any PC mail's in the R6's we have installed they all have Messaging on them.

The release of the one I have is rel 3. We get our stuff from the cheapest distributor. In this case it was a company called Telquest. We called them today and they said they have never heard of this being a problem
