On the Partner II, will the system operate with a R4.1 primary processor and a R3.1 expansion processor?

Currently the customer has both R3.1 processors, however, frequent power failures has killed their battery retention. I need to either replace the battery, and reprogram if the two verisons are not compatible, or bring out my spare R4.1 processor already programmed. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare R4.1 expansion processor.

First, there isn't a 4.1 Expansion processor. It stopped at the 3.1, which is compatible with the 4.1. As far as the battery, it is a 3.6v ni/cad soldered into the processor. I know you can buy them from certain dealers. I think we get ours from Mike Sandman. It's kinda difficult to get to the battery on the PII because it's on a second board...more like a PITA. As well, how about a UPS on the system, a APC 500 will hold the system for about 15 minutes. That might help with the spikes and P/F. Good luck.

Thanks. I will be testing the UPS when I go back to replace the primary processor with the R4.1. I'm just trying to save some onsite down time. And I will be replacing the battery on the R3.1 to make a good new spare processor.

Second to losing programming, this same customer complains of losing MSG and MIC led's almost every morning when they return, which occurs with system resets. Thoughts?

Mic (HFAI) Leds will go out by default if the system resets. The Msg leds are controlled by the VM, so they should also stay lit, unless you are having the system memory wiped out every night due to power failures.

You might want to let them use your 4.1 while you change the battery in their 3.1, then swap them back when you are done. The 4.1 has more features, and personally I'd want it back for spare.

Thanks ttTom. Great personal suggestion.

you might also want to check to be sure power is not being shut down to the switch every night
A few years back I installed a large tie system when I went back a week or so later one user lit into me saying she got there at 7:00 and needed the phones to come on before 7:30 ??????

turned out my 'dedicated" power outlet in the phone room was switched on and off with the hall lights

when maintence when hopme at 9:00 lights (and my switch)
went off...back on every day at 7:30

Skip, my partner at work told me of a Mitel Superswitch in a mansion that went down every Wednesday from noon to one. Turns out the maid did the ironing every Wed., unplugging the switch to plug in the iron!
