I have a system out there that had a power outage and on the display of all sets it says back up issue or invalid card. I went to site and put in a new card and in programming went in and cleared the display message. It was good for 3 days and today is back again. The client has been installed for 5 years no issues...

Any Ideas

What new card ??? Processor? 206E? Is there a UPS? If not, you obviously would have taken a surge hit.
This is what I would have done = Powered down, removed the AAA backup batteries.Powered back up.This will default the system. perform a #726 system reset.Power down again & install new backup Batteries.Power back up and preform a system restore from last auto backup. Now check to see what system programming/features are good and reload any missing translations along with date & time.
If there is not a UPS, install one. Dirty Power and surge strips are time bombs. There was a time where dedicated outlets were mandatory for system installs (regulated days)

I put in a new Back up card... Cleared the alarm message and all was good. System is on UPS so not sure on the spike issue???

Do I need to follow the same steps still as you outlined.???

The UPS is good thing. We can assume there was no surge damage after the power failure. You can always use the #728 system reset - save all, to clear any transiet issues. Have you replaced the AAAbackup batts? if not do that with the power on. Clear any backup display messages and have the client contact you if it reoccurs. If it repeats, I would remove the backup card from the system and let it run without it to see if you get a repeat.
