I spent a little time thinking about what 1043 said in an earlier topic where he mentioned that the R7 might not be the end of the line for the Partner ACS.

If there is, indeed, more to come and I could have some wishes granted, what would I ask for?

I came up with a few things:

1) No more buggy releases!
2) Introduce pure digital desk sets (think Merlin Magix 4400 series with backlit displays)
3) Keep the same software/menus, but do away with the large wall-mounted carriers/modules and have the Partner ACS resemble IP Office hardware (reduced footprint, possible reduced power consumption & maybe less heat generated).

Any thoughts [ponder]

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

If the Partner is going to be around, I think they should defintely resemble IP Office modules. They need to be able to be rack or wall mounted. Also, I would like the module to be able to be intergrated with the IP Office, just like the ETR cards on the Magix. Being able to upgrade to IP Office and still able to use your old Partner phones would be an easier selling point.

It was mentioned a while back that Avaya might introduce something that will allow Partner telephones to work with IP Office equipment.

My thought here was along the lines of what to change with the Partner ACS while keeping it primarily TDM for small mom & pop businesses that have no plans to go IP due to cost or other considerations.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.

1-flexible numbering of ext's
2-Voice mail to email as wav. only needing access to pop 3 server to forward
3-Expandable to 2nd or 3 cabinet

Double density on all cards, pushing capacity up in the same card size. new cabinet to accept double and, or single density cards. 1018 proccessor, and the 616 exp cards. VM cards using the hidden ports(ones that cannot be licensed) for internal access like VM retreival, and licensed ports for incoming calls only.

I recently received a replacement Partner ACS7 unit from Avaya and the phone displays now come up with the user name and extension displayed on the right of the screen. Is this new or I imagining it? If so this new build might have some other tweaks I have not seen yet. Just like in IP Office when they slipped in Visual Voice.. I like that kind of improvement.

I've read elsewhere that Avaya has an R8 processor in the works. I guess the Partner ACS is going to be around for a while. [smile]

From what I understand, it is on the drawing board.
