I have replaced two Partner ACS R8.0 recently at two separate client locations. Both experienced power surges from the power company. Green LED was on, though all ports were dead. I'm assuming the processor chip or internal power supply had failed in both cases. I never experienced that with the R6's. Did Avaya change the power supplies on the board and is their a fuse on the board?

The power supplies are essentially the same on the R8 and R6. There are 2 or 3 fuses on the power supply depending on its vintage. Check the 3/8 amp fuse as this is the one that powers the stations. If it is good then the problem is likely an EPROM on the main board that can be corrupted by power issues. This is a common problem that started with the R7. The chip has to be replaced and reprogrammed.

Brian when you say their are 2 or 3 fuses on the power supply, are you talking about the power supply within the R8 or the ceramic fuse on the power distribution carrier? If it is with in the R8 how do you check it without breaking down the exterior cover of the R8?
