I recently took over the maintenance/service of a Partner ACS R7 system. The customer states that a certain programmable button was once used for overhead paging, but when it no longer would function, my predecessor (the competition) programmed Line 5 to page. The Line 5 port is NOT programmed as a page port. A single-pair line cord goes directly to a page adapter then to the paging amp. The customer can press the Line 5 Button to page without any problem. However, there is no page tone. He doesn't think there was a page tone before either; when the programmed button (Loudspeaker Page) was used. I reprogrammed the Line 5 port as a page port and the buttons on the 18D phones to "Loudspeaker Page" (Int 70). When I press the button, nothing happens. If I simply dial Intercom 70, it does work. Any ideas why the "Loudspeaker Page" feature won't work when programmed on a button? Thanks in advance for your input.

The Partner does not provide any kind of pre-announce tone for loudspeaker paging - that would be a function of the paging amp or paging interface. If you are using Line 5 for paging, but haven't programmed CO-5 as the paging port, you would be using a trunk-level paging interface.

You have to push Intercom before you press the button programmed for Loudspeaker paging.

Thanks TTT... I guess it's been a while since I've done anything with paging on Partner... If I do program the CO5 port as a page port, should I still have to push the intercom button before the button that is set to Intercom 70? I don't remember ever having to do this before.

If you lift the handset first, and you have your ALS set to grab an outside line, yes you have to press Intercom before pressing the Loudspeaker (Intercom-70) button. If you press the button while the phone is on hook/idle, it will go to Loudspeaker straight away. (but you'll also be on speaker phone, so people will also hear you picking up the handset out of the cradle to make the page, and the possibility of feedback from the speakerphone and the loudspeaker)

Thank you again. I will check it out when I go back later this week. I appreciate the info.
