I have a customer that has an ACS R5 unit with voicemail. In a nutshell they opened a new temporary office in a building next door. They will have about 5 people work in this office for the next year while their new building is being built. They want to have the ability to dial an extension on the phone system and have it transfer to these five people (they each have their own phone line). There is no way to run cable between the buildings that is cost effective. They currently do not use Automated Attendant. They want to setup AA on line 5 to play an announcement that says if you know you extension dial it now. They want to be able to dial a phantom extension number like 40 and have it Remote Call forward to a phone number outside of the office.

I know they would have to upgrade to at least R6 to get Remote Call Forward
Is it possible to have a phantom extension setup with Remote Call Forward to transfer to an outside number?

Anybody have any other idea?

Thanks

If all else fail, reboot.

If it is really next door then a temp cable would do the trick (all depending on the actual location).
Problem with temp cables is, that they are usually used until they disintegrate from old age.

I have done setups like that where a few extensions were setup in the next door building and that enabled all incoming calls to ring there as well as inter office communication. For a year it will be cheaper than extra phone lines in the new place.

Thanks for the reply's. they are looking into using Centrex Transfer from their dial tone provider. The second building is across a parking lot there is no way to run a temp line.

Sadly, a wireless solution would be the quickest to deploy. Are there any outfits in the general area that might enter into a short term lease of an Engenius? That might be enough to get the customer to green light.

that was the original plan to upgrade to R6. I could not find flash to R6 upgrade card. only ones I could find were for R8 and you have to be on R7 to use the R8.

Thanks

I have never had to do an upgrade. If I upgrade from V5 to V6 will they lose programing?

Thanks

Programming will be intact after the upgrade, unless the backup batteries at the bottom of the ACS are dead. If the batteries are bad you'll see a warning at X10 and X11 saying to replace the batteries with power on. Once the upgrade to R6 is complete you should do a new backup.
