Hey everyone,

I am a "nortel" Norstar/Meridian guy. Sorry if that offends you! :)

Have a friend that got a great deal on a Partner ACS. He had me "learn and install and now maintain" it.

They have noticed that the phone extensions 22,23 can hear each others calls. This goes in and out. (mostly in).

Is it a bad card / bad port? Would moving 23 to another port, and marking 23 bad, be the best option?

p.s. if you need any questions answered on Norstar/Meridian/Succession or even a little of BCM, let me know.

p.p.s. This is a great forum. Tek-Tips rocks!!

Thanks for your time!

Eugen

you can try moving the ports but it sounds like there was a reason he got " a great deal "

since its on 22 and 23 its probably just the 206 or 308 module thats bad

(are they 206 or 308 modules ?)
(I'm assuming you have determined thats its not a co line issue)

Ment to also say moving it to another port might work , why not try it ?

unfortunately on partner you cant change Dn's so the ext number changes also

It is a 308 module.

The only ones that complain about it are those two users, so I would have to deduce that it's not the CO.

thanks for the reply,

I am looking at a plan of attack, and it looks like moving one of the phones would be cheapest, if not easiest.

Plug the 2 phones directly into the switch to verify that it's not a cable problem.

Thank you all for your replies/suggestions. I will be heading out today to test directly at the system, and then if it still happens, swap 23 or 22 to a different port and mark one of those as bad.

thanks again!

Just a follow up.

Swapped 22 to a different port/card.
Haven't heard anything for over a month now, Great!!

Thanks for letting us know what happened! [thumbsup2]

A little bit more.

Customer called and said there phones didn't have any lights on.

I had to replace the processor. From an R4. to R6. and of course new hardware.

Seems to be going all right so far.

The bottom of the processor where the batteries are, was coming apart, I don't know if it was the heat or what.

These puppies sure run hot though.

They run hotter than the Norstar, that's for sure. The AAA batteries at the bottom of the Proc card are to keep the config hot during a power failure. You'll get a warning message across x10 (and x11 I believe) if these batteries start to die on you. They can be replaced at any time without powering down or anything crazy like that.

I'm glad you've gotten to experience some of Avaya's engineering; the Partner is pretty neat little switch. I love the Norstar, which is often beats us out on price (at least in the secondary market). I'm not big on having to use a Release button and I don't like the way the DTMF tones are masked, but those phones sure are rugged.

Thank you for posting an update.
