I have a new client with a used PARTNER ACS R3 that we're reinstalling.

When attempting to connect to the Remote Access port (extension 76), we're unable to connect, only once getting as far as the system asking for the password. We're plugged directly into a station port in the system cabinet, and the results were only marginally better when using an ACS processor module port (x10-17) than a port in an expansion module.

It almost seems as if the connection is "noisy". Do I correctly remember that as being a common problem on station ports with certain vintage ACS modules?

Any other good thought will be appreciated. Thanks in advance....

There used to be a problem when there was a 308 expansion module in slot 1. At the time, the solution was to put a 206 card in slot 1, then the 308.

Have you tried to power up just the processor and try to connect to the modem?

Hi jmjm,
If you go on the intercom & break the tone (dial 1), is the connection noisy? I have traced two systems now where the voicemail unit had to be changed. They were putting excessive noise into the system. (one was causing sporatic reboots) I would guess that any misbehaving card could do this.
