The 2-slot carrier has to be the ACS 2-slot carrier and not the old unit. The backplane is different. The new 2 slot will accomadate either the 206 or vsmail with the ACS.
Hi jsaad,
I wouldn't use a two slot carrier if I were you. There is not enough ventilation. I have seen more than one ACS overheat. If you look at the new 5 slot carrier you will see that Avaya has increased the amount of space between cards. The old 5 slot carrier had superior airflow over the two slot carrier. The last ACS I saw "cook" lasted about 17 months. Out of warranty, customer bought a new card and 5 slot carrier. I looked at the old unit, the power supply overheated.
Just my 2 cents, Chris
You are absolutely right about these running hot. We have a ACS that would freak out every afternoon when our warehouse heated up. I mounted a fan to blow air on the top of the 5-slot carrier and it has run fine now for 2 years without a hiccup. Brian Cox

Hi Brian,
I'm glad you caught it before it went bang. I just replied in another thread that there is a zener that runs too darn hot. Hotter than the 206 exp card.
Take care, Chris
Hi jsaad,
That will work just fine. The processor will run a bit warmer unless you want to space it off the wall a bit. I beg every customer to use a good UPS on the system. I have several systems mounted like this and they run fine. If those customers add any cards I get them into a five slot carrier.
