Is there a software I can use to connect to a Partner ACS for programming? I am an IPO kid but I am being forced to troubleshoot Partner systems more and more and I am not familiar with them at all. Any help will be greatly appreciated...!

Thanks,

The Partner ACS does have Administration software. It is free to download off of Avaya's website. Here is the general link:

acs

For "content type" choose "download". [smile]

If you don't already have one, download a copy of the Installation Guides for the R6 & R8 processors. You'll just need to remember what features are available in the other revisions.

Thanks...! Do you know where can I get a quick course or book on 101 Partner and Nortel programming and administration? Something basic, just to allow me to troubleshoot a system and to tell the customer that it needs a brand new IP Office.

allow me to troubleshoot a system and to tell the customer that it needs a brand new IP Office.

Just because you aren't familiar with the system doesn't mean that the customer automatically needs a new IP Office!

If your customer needs new features that the IPO offers, needs to go to a PRI, needs VM Pro, then by all means propose a new system. But if they are just having a problem with an extension, or need some reprogramming to the buttons or voicemail, figure it out and get it fixed. Your customer will appreciate it, and it will give you a better foothold when it really IS time for a new system.

@TouchToneTommy, I Agree, I have no problems with simple stuff like a bad port, etc, the problem is that I am not familiar with the Partner well enough to troubleshoot weird or hard issues and I don't want the customer to feel exactly what you described in your post, I want to customer to see that I tried everything humanly possible to get his phone system back into operation before I pitch the new IP Office.
My knowledge is so poor that I do not even know how to record the greeting on the automated attendant, I know you have to punch in Intercom 777 and that's about it...now how bad is that..! And forget about Nortel...I am even worse when it come to those systems.

Thanks,

If it is your job to know the system, Get an ACS processor, a Manual and learn it. If you are maintaining the Partner line I would assume you have some stuff on the shelf like an acs porocessor, some 206 cards and some 308s. You will heave a hard time troubleshooting you can't swaps a possibly defective part with a known working part.

You do not really needthe software unless you are programming the DIDs for the T1 Board, and it won't teach you anything.
