A friend of mine is opening a dental office with 5 lines and 12 extensions. His previous office used a Partner ACS. My question is: Should I install a Partner that is discontinued or go with the Panasonic. I do prefer the ACS because that is what I am familiar with. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Partner is quite solid but just for the reason that it is discontinued I would either go with the IP Office Partner edition so you can keep the familiarity (even though I don't like the features as it is not as feature rich as the IP Office with the same hardware) or go with the IP Office itself but that would require some training on your side to be able to support it, the price difference between them is minuscule.

Panasonic is a nice little system as far as I know it (very little) and pretty cheap I think.
For a dentists office which needs just basic telephony features I guess any system will do as long as you can put calls on hold and pick up from another or transfer them in between.

The PARTNER ACS would be my choice. More is available on the secondary market, and it won't go away for a long time! The IPO does NOT have the ANALOGUE capabilities that the ACS has. The loop voltage and ringing generator SUCK!!! No loop disconnect. It has wall warts also. The Panasonic, on the other hand, has more restrictive support and updates via dealer only for software, etc., and Panasonic keeps changing and discontinuing stuff. It does have a few more features, but you need to compare for your application as to whether that is a factor in your selection.
